Liverpool are reportedly preparing to bolster their title hopes with a significant signing in the January transfer window. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Reds are willing to offer around €80million to secure the services of in-form attacking midfielder Oihan Sancet from Athletic Bilbao, confirmed by CaughtOffside.

Liverpool have been in impressive form under manager Arne Slot, sitting nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table. Despite their dominance, the club is eager to strengthen their squad in January to maintain their momentum. Sancet, 24, has been identified as a key target, with his attacking prowess and goal-scoring ability from midfield making him an attractive addition to Slot's side.

Fichajes reports that Liverpool's offer of €80million could be enough to persuade Athletic Bilbao to sell Sancet. The Spanish club may find it difficult to turn down such a significant bid, especially considering Sancet's impressive form this season.

While Sancet's potential signing would undoubtedly strengthen Liverpool's attacking options, it raises questions about the club's priorities in the transfer market. With a strong midfield and attacking unit already in place, some may argue that €80million could be better spent addressing other areas of the squad, such as defense or left-back.

Liverpool's reported interest in Oihan Sancet highlights the club's ambition to continue strengthening their squad in pursuit of domestic and European success. While the potential signing of Sancet would undoubtedly be a coup for the Reds, it remains to be seen whether the club's priorities align with the needs of their squad.
