Manchester City midfielder Rodri has publicly endorsed Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams as an ideal signing for the Citizens. Rodri's comments come amid reported interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool in the 22-year-old Spanish international, according to Metro UK.
Williams was one of Spain's standout performers at Euro 2024, scoring the opening goal in the final against England. His impressive displays attracted attention from several top European clubs, including Manchester City's Premier League rivals.
Rodri, who spoke with Williams via video link at AS' awards ceremony in Madrid, expressed his admiration for the young winger. When asked if he would take Williams to Manchester City, Rodri replied, "Yes, yes. Right now, if I was taking him, I would also be taking him to teach him a little bit about the cold in England."
Williams' relatively modest €58 million (£48.1m) release clause in his deal with Athletic Bilbao makes him an attractive target for top clubs. However, his €200,000-a-week (£166,000) salary demands may prove a stumbling block for some suitors.
Rodri's endorsement of Nico Williams as an ideal signing for Manchester City highlights the winger's growing reputation as one of Spain's most promising young talents. With several top clubs vying for his signature, Williams' future remains uncertain, but one thing is clear – he is a player in high demand.
