A Nigerian man identified as Mr. Ben, reportedly based in London, has sparked online debate after placing a bold ₦100 million wager claiming that controversial activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), would be arrested if he sets foot in China.
The challenge stems from VDM’s recent accusations against a Chinese businessman named Ross, whom he alleged was involved in scams targeting Nigerians. Following the viral claims, rumors circulated that VDM might face a travel restriction or arrest if he ever entered China.
In a widely shared video, Mr. Ben stated his willingness to deposit the ₦100 million with a neutral party—suggesting football stars Victor Osimhen or Victor Boniface as possible intermediaries. He also offered to fund VDM’s first-class flight to China under one condition: VDM must spend 48 hours in the country without being detained to claim the money.
“I’m ready to pay ₦100 million that you can’t enter China. If you stay for 48 hours without arrest, I’ll forfeit the money,” Mr. Ben declared in the clip.
The wager has drawn mixed reactions across social media. While some view it as an empty provocation meant to discredit the outspoken critic, others see it as a test of the authenticity behind VDM’s international allegations.
Neither VeryDarkMan nor his representatives have responded publicly to the challenge as of press time.
